Challenge 1

Where are you reading from today?

Various books, right now a library book about homeschooling with sanity and a pirate novel. I have many other wants to reads as well as needed for review to reads in the stack as well.

3 facts about me …

1. I'm 23 weeks pregnant today!
   
2. My favorite apples are Pink Ladies (which I found some yesterday!!!).
   
3. I love historical fiction.
   

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?

Well, the pile to choose from has about 15 books, but I hardly expect to read them all.

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?

I'm tired, so my real goal is to read completely two novels (about 600 pages total). It is lacking, but something and I will be content with it. This is the first read-a-thon that I have "really" been able to participate in, so I hope to be very interactive and meet new people!

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time?

I tried last year, but was too busy with other stuff. So technically, I would call this my first time.

24 Hour Read-a-Thon: UPDATE ONE

This morning I am really tired as we did not get into bed last night until after midnight. We spent two hours at the huge kids consignment sale and got a fabulous load of stuff. If our estimations are accurate we spent $1,000 LESS than what it would have cost us to get everything we got in store! I could not be more excited (with spending only $200). This will be a frugal baby girl!

So, I have read a little bit in a library book and a little bit in my novel. The novel is taking over, so I will be dedicated to it now!

24 HOUR Read-a-ThonS

How did I not know that the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon was this weekend? So not cool! I have not prepared at all, I am not even sure what is on the agenda for this weekend... hmm... I know that Friday morning I have an appt at the OB and then Friday evening we are going to a huge consignment sale nearby. I should be okay to get up Saturday morning, as it will start at 8:00 AM for me, and go all day and then some what into the night as far as I can. Hopefully, my Pastor will forgive me for being sleepy. lol



Now... what to plan to read.

In no way do I plan to read all of these, but I plan to try to read as many as I can. Being pregnant, there is no telling how I will feel and if I will get tired or not. Plus there is no telling what DH will be doing...

Read-a-thon Mid-Event

Mid-Event Survey:

1. What are you reading right now?

A Lady of High Regard, Ladies of Liberty #1 by Tracie Peterson

2. How many books have you read so far?

This is the first one I started, but I also started less than three hours ago.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?

Really all of them. The whole series of Ladies of Liberty, Auralia's Colors and Twilight. I had started Auralia's Colors some months ago, but things for review pushed it back, and I'm excited about Cyndere's Midnight that I'm getting soon, so I must read it and be prepared. Also, just last week my DH bought the entire Twilight series for me on a whim, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the fuss is all about. *grin*

4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day?

I wish I had, but the quilt expo was a go or miss, and tickets had already been arranged. I do so wish that we could have been there and back quicker so that I could have more time to read. I got a slow start, but I'm fairly in the book now, this is my first break, after my shower break that is...

5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?

I had a rough time settling in and getting started, so many "tasks" were calling to me. Then there was the hamburger smell... We ate lunch at Johnny Rockets that I love from my youth, but with the open kitchen the smell of burgers had permeated my hair and it was very much so not conducive to reading.

6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?

I'm not sure I have quite the handle on it. As the main page never seems to have my updates loaded in the favicon thingy. Also, I have had trouble finding many other people. So I kinda feel like I'm on my own, but I'm updating my page number through goodreads, that then automatically uploads through Twitter, so I at least feel like I'm accomplishing something myself. twitter.com/cherryblossommj

7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

Unsure. I do not know enough about it yet, as it is my first year, and I'm doing a poor delayed job as it is...

8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year?

As a reader, I would plan more ahead. Going nowhere, having snacks and drinks set up and finding music to have in the background. (The fan from the cat-bathroom is not very relaxing...)

9. Are you getting tired yet?

Nope, but then I'm not that far in as compared to other folks. My eyes are dry, but that's the cool weather...

10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered?

I really like the idea of Twitter updates, they are short and sweet and you do not have to necessarily rely on a page upload to get them. (ie: TwitterFox, etc)

I'm on page 101, about to start chapter 9 of A Lady of High Regard.

Read-a-thon 1 hour

In one hour, I have not gotten much accomplished at all! I have only read about three chapters in A Lady of High Regard (Ladies of Liberty #1) by Tracie Peterson. It took me a while to get settled and then I had to go take a shower to get rid of hamburger smell, but perhaps I will accomplish more in this hour!

Read-a-thon jumping in late...

Okay, so went to the quilt show (saw Traci's mom and grandmother) enjoyed the sees to sight and then cranky DH skipped out on the book festival so I missed that, but had a great lunch at Johnny Rockets. And now... I still have 13 hours to read!! Better late than never, and at least a partial read is worth it right?
