My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Who knew that brown font could be so pretty? This Bible is a treasure and a delight. Being made up of the New Century Version translation this is a perfect companion to the popular Dad's Bible: The Father's Plan. Through the additional text in this Bible the notes from Bobbie Wolgemuth allow the truth of importance that a mother is to her family. The encouragement found within these pages is incredibly valuable. My favorite part is probably the "Moms in the Bible" segments where profiles are highlighted that share lessons for our own mothering roles and give a focus on how to be a woman that pleases God as a Mom. Another valuable segment is "Questions Kids Ask" with some great scriptural answers.

This Bible is a great gift idea, and one that will definitely allow Mom a few moments of going back to God and just being with Jesus that is until the next tatrum. *grin* (Pardon me, my baby calls...)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's (2nd) pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:

Dining with Joy (A Lowcountry Romance)

Joy Ballard has a secret: she's a cooking show host who can't really cook.

When her South Carolina-based cooking show, Dining With Joy, is picked up by a major network, Joy Ballard's world heats up like a lowcountry boil.

Joy needs help. Then she meets chef Luke Davis who moved to Beaufort after losing his Manhattan restaurant. A cook at the Frogmore Cafe, he's paying debts and longing to regain his reputation in the elite foodie world.

Luke and Joy mix like oil and water…until Joy is exposed on national television. With her career and his reputation both under fire, they'll have to work together to fix the mess. Is it possible that they can learn to feast on God's love and dine with joy?

The Sweet By and By by Sara Evans with Rachel Hauck -- Review

The Sweet By and By The Sweet By and By by Rachel Hauck

A redemptive story from multi-platinum recording artist Sara Evans.
Jade Fitzgerald left the pain of her past in the dust when she headed out for college a decade ago. Now she's thriving in her career and glowing in the light of Max Benson's love.

But then Jade's hippie mother, Beryl Hill, arrives in Whisper Hollow, Tennessee, for Jade's wedding along with Willow, her wild younger sister. Their arrival forces Jade to throw open the dark closets of her past--the insecurity of living with a restless, wandering mother, the silence of her absent father, and the heart-ripping pain of first-love's rejection.
Turns out Beryl has a secret of her own. She needs reconciliation with her oldest daughter before illness takes her life. In the final days leading to the wedding, Jade meets the One who shows her that the past has no hold on her future. With a little grace, they'll meet in the middle, maybe even before that sweet by and by.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Rachel Hauck is a favorite author and I absolutely love her Sweet Caroline and Love Starts with Elle, however this book I do not love. I like this book and it is interesting and entertaining, but it is not quite my cup of tea. I could not really relate to the characters personally and it made it hard for me to enjoy it. I could easily see this story being a Hallmark film and would definitely watch it and encourage others to do so as well, it is just not a favorite.

God's Little Princess Devotional Bible by Sheila Walsh - Review

God's Little Princess Devotional Bible: Bible Storybook God's Little Princess Devotional Bible: Bible Storybook by Sheila Walsh

Girls long to be loved and adored, and give their heart to their hero. God is that hero! The characteristics focused on in this Bible storybook will help your little girl blossom into the princess she was created to be. Virtues to create beauty such as compassion, sharing, and truth are highlighted in fun and engaging ways. The perfect format for girls to learn about their destiny as a daughter of their King. Features included are: Beauty Secrets, Bible Princesses, My Hero (Scripture promises), Take a Bow (Easy plays that are Bible-focused), I Adore You (Put girls energy to use with songs, scripture and worship), Royal Truths, Down In My Heart (Scripture Memory), Princess Charming, Worthy of Love (Ideas to show how to love her royal subjects: family, siblings, friends and those in the community).

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What a colorful little book this is. With excerpts from the International Children's Bible this is a great tool for young girls (ages 4-7 approximately) to learn to grow in their relationship with Christ as well as into themselves and the princesses that they are. I was a little thrown at first reading the scripture realizing the parts that were missing, but that was before I knew that this was with excerpts and references to scripture and not a full Bible. The main points are there and other parts are left open that would encourage discussion of further depth into scripture at least in my opinion.

"Every girl is a princess, the daughter of a King... the greatest King who created and rules over everything!" The features through out this Bible are amazing and fun. There is a letter to princesses in the front as well as a letter to parents with a section that explains the features and how to enhance the learning experience. Features including how to keep scripture "down in my heart", learn "beauty secrets", know facts about "Bible Princesses", and more including manners of "Princess Charming"! I thoroughly enjoyed going through the pages of this Bible from author Sheila Walsh and I truly think that this will be a great asset to have once AppleBlossom is a bit older. *grin* Although the glitter, sparkles and rhinestones are already a big hit around here - fabulous cover.

A Lady Like Sarah by Margaret Brownley -- a review

A Lady Like Sarah (A Rocky Creek Romance, #1) A Lady Like Sarah by Margaret Brownley

She's an outlaw. He's a preacher. Both are in need of a miracle.

When Preacher JUSTIN WELLS promises an injured lawman to take his prisoner to Texas, Justin has no idea the trouble that lies ahead. The slightly-built prisoner turns out to be SARAH PRESCOTT, sister of the notorious Prescott brothers--and she's determined to miss the hanging party waiting for her in Texas.

But escaping proves to be tougher than she thought. Justin doesn't own a gun and hasn't the foggiest idea how to survive the wilderness. How can she leave him alone with the injured marshal?

Nothing is more sacred to Justin than a promise made to a dying man, but he can't bring himself to turn the blue-eyed beauty over to the hangmen. She's tough as leather, but there's something about her that is pure and good.

Justin can't bear to lose her, but how can a simple preacher fight an entire town? And how can either one of them know that miracles come in many guises…including love?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Well I'll be. I am for certainly unsure if I can say enough good things about the book A Lady Like Sarah or my new favorite author Margaret Brownley (and no it is not because of her elegant name). As many of you that read my reviews know, my favorite Christian Historical Romantic Comedy author of American west novels is Mary Connealy... well I can honestly say that Margaret Brownley rates right up there with this book and I am ecstatically (is that a word?) excited for more. More Rocky Creek Romance or more anything, just give me more.

I was amused. I giggled and grinned. I chuckled and snuggled down further in my reading nook. I was irritated and emotional. I shed slight tears. I could hear Sarah's voice and see her boots. These characters were alive and amazing to me. I read an ARC, but you better believe this is one for the keeper shelf. On a final note: The saloon scene made me squeal and cry, and I love my fellow quilters and that is all I have to say about that.

Margaret you're definitely on my favorites lists and I cannot wait for more!

Very quickly and easily this has become my go-to goodnight book. I can see this book being so valuable through out the years to come. Once my AppleBlossom starts speaking, I see this as a great start for memorizing verses and stories of just how much God loves us all. I would highly recommend you get this for any of your little lambs or buy it as a gift. It's just too cute. I'm going to have to look at other things in the Really Woolly series. Previously, I had just glanced, but this has sold me. Too adorable.

His Name is Jesus by Max Lucado

His Name Is Jesus: The Promise of God's Love Fulfilled

This is a delightful book following the time line of Christ's life. I've enjoyed many different types of books from Max Lucado in the past and this is no exception. At first I thought this was more of a coffee table book, but after having the opportunity to enjoy it myself - it is so much more. This is a treasure and the pictures within are gorgeous. This was put together from other Lucado books, but I never would have realized it had I not known. This is a perfect gift for anyone.

Max Lucado's first book that journeys from the birth of Christ to His resurrection.

Drawing from his classic writing on Jesus combined with new reflections and breathtaking art, Max Lucado again opens our eyes-and hearts-to the life and work of the Savior in a way that will change lives forever. "Jesus was, at once, common and not; alternately normal and heroic. One minute blending in with the domino players in the park, the next commanding the hell out of madmen, disease out of the dying, and death out of the dead." Who was this man who spoke as easily with kids and fishermen as widows and waves? It is the question that has echoed down through the centuries to us today, and here is a visually stunning book that answers aspects of that question.
