Growing up motherless with an outlaw father made Ginger Freeman hard and unforgiving—and for the past seven years she's been driven by a single goal: to make Grant Kelley pay for letting her brother die. Now that she's tracked the hated doctor to a westward-bound wagon train, her mission of vengeance is nearly completed. But the sense of family and community that suddenly surrounds her is unlike anything Ginger has ever experienced. And under the nurturing eye of Miss Sadie, the outlaw's daughter begins to lose her rough edges. Here, in the company of loving, newfound friends, Ginger feels herself becoming part of something much bigger than revenge.
But catastrophe is in the wind when her pa and his gang arrive to infiltrate the wagon train. Will Ginger's new relationship with God tear her away from her family forever . . . and cost her everything she's now begun to hold dear?

Ooooh I loved the previous book and still want to get my hands on the first one. I am impatient to read this one too. Tracey is so versatile she can go from writing the contemporary chicklits like the Drama Queens series to historicals like this Westward Hearts series without skipping a beat and they are all pleasant reading experiences even for a very picky reader.

I haven't read anything by this author. Is this part of a series or stand alone? The cover is very attractive and looks like a good one to start with.
It is book #3 in the Westward Hearts series, but it is stand alone worthy. This is the type of historical romance where each book is about a different set of characters with former characters in the background. You know what I mean? They are there, but the story is not so much about them. I'd say that reading this third and final one first would just make you want to go back and read the other two as well.
Go here to read about the first two:

I recently read my first Tracey Bateman book, The Color of the Soul, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It takes place during an uncomfortable time in American history and really made me think. In face, I wish there were more books in her Penbrook Diaries series.
My mom gave me book #2 and this one is coming in the mail. Now I just gotta get book #1 so I can read all of them!! Cant wait...I've heard so many great things about Tracey Bateman.
I had to check out the first one from the library, because I couldn't find it in a store, but I wish that I had looked harder, because now I really want them all for my permanent library.
