The revelation of a connection to the distinguished d'Urberville pedigree whispers the possibility of a better life for the poor Durbeyfield family. When Tess Durbeyfield (Gemma Arterton, Quantum of Solace) ventures out to "claim kin" to handsome Alec d'Urberville (Hans Matheson, Dr. Zhivago) and his mother, she finds not only an employer but an admirer. But soon, Tess learns that behind Alec's seductive words and privileged veneer is a darkness that will alter her life.
