Amish Love & Cindy Woodsmall

Amish Love

What’s all the hubbub about Amish fiction? Major media outlets like Time and ABC Nightline are covering it, and authors like Cindy Woodsmall are making the New York Times bestseller list regularly. What makes these books so interesting?

Check out the recent ABC Nightline piece here about Cindy and her titles When the Heart Cries, When the Morning Comes, and When the Soul Mends. It’s an intriguing look at Amish culture and the time Cindy has spent with Amish friends.

And don’t forget that Cindy’s new book The Hope of Refuge hits store shelves August 11, and is available for preorder now.

I must be out of the loop because I haven't heard of this author. But I've been reading Beverly Lewis forever!! I guess I'm drawn to these type of books because I enjoy the simplicity of their lives.

Cindy's from Georgia, and she's fairly new to the writing world. The books mentioned above are from her first series, and then the new one is a the beginning of a different series. She also has a stand alone for this Christmas coming out too. I enjoy her writing better than Lewis if you can believe that.

I saw that report on Nightline. I've never read Amish romances, either, but they might be good.

Have you noticed that there are A LOT of stories devoted to romance novels on Nightline lately? First there was the one on how romance novels are selling "now more than ever," then the Amish romance story, and tonight they had one about vampire romances where they talked to PC and Crytal (sp?) Cast. I think someone at Nightline's a romance junkie! (I'm laying bets on Martin Bashir.)

Could be. Something that I heard was that the way things are with the economy more readers are going to romance novels for an escape or happy time. So they are really selling, so that is another possible reason why they are being featured so much currently... perhaps.
