Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday 2

Fiction:

The Dutchess and the Dragon by Jamie Carie, I bought this one and the next two at the used bookstore. I've been wanting this one, and I have not read Jamie Carie, yet so I'm excited about it.

The Pawn by Steven James, I bought this one because I had received the sequel The Rook for review, and thought that both my mom and I would enjoy starting from the beginning.

Distant Heart by Tracey Bateman, I got this one, because I was thinking I have the second and third book in the series, but I'm missing book one, and was ecstatic, until I got home and realized it was book two. So now I have two of book two, and still lack book one Defiant Heart. *sigh*

The Death and Life of Gabriel Phillips by Stephen Baldwin and Mark Tabb, this came via UPS for a CFBA tour, November 19th. Click here for more information.

Out of Her Hands by Megan DiMaria, I got this via USPS for a CFBA tour on November 5th, the problem is that I still need to read book one, Searching for Spice that it took me a while to get my hands on. Click here for more information.

Oh Thursday, I received my order from CBD.com. Oh exciting!! Two non-fiction books, boxes of Christmas cards, and the next few fiction titles...

Ticket to Tomorrow (Book #1 A Fair to Remeber) by Carol Cox
Fair Game (Book #2 A Fair to Remember) by Carol Cox
(I already have read and loved Book #3 A Bride so Fair. Click here to see that review and to read the first chapter.)
Regency Brides by Kimberly Comeaux, a novella including The Vicar's Daughter, The Engagment, and Remember Me. I could not help myself with this one. The cover was too pretty, and the $1.99 price was too good to pass up.

A Stitch in Time by Tracey Bateman, Carol Cox, Cathy Marie Hake, and Vickie McDonough. This is also a novella including four stories from four authors. Basket Stitch by Cathy Marie Hake, Double Cross by Tracey Bateman, Spider Web Rose by Vickie McDonough, and Double Running by Carol Cox. Being the quilter and cross stitcher that I am, this one interests me.

When the Storm Breaks (The Queensland Chronicles, Book #3) by Bonnie Leon
, I was so excited to get this, because they are almost out of stock. I have had the first one for a while, The Heart of Thorton Creek, and through some begging and nice emails with a fabulous author I was able to acquire book #2 For the Love of the Land. So in the near future, no idea what time frame that means, I plan on having a Bonnie Leon week at Creative Madness. Including To Love Anew (Sydney Cove Chronicles #1), Longings of the Heart (Sydney Cove Chronicles #2), and possible more. I'll tell you more when I know more...

The Appomattox Saga (1840-1861): The Rocklin Family at the Dawn of the War Between the States. Three books in one: A Covenant of Love, Gate of His Enemies, and Where Honor Dwells all by Gilbert Morris. I bought this as a "slightly damaged" item, which is always a little scary, but it arrived and I am not too conserned. The dust cover is fairly wrinkled almost from "steam"-like damage and there is residue from a sticker on the back, but I'll live.
Just Jane: A Novel of Jane Austen's Life by Nancy Moser, I had checked this book out from the library to read it and loved it. It was a must for my permanent shelves, so as soon as I saw that it was on sale at CBD, it was mine! Click here to go back and read my review.

And lastly, as a set I purchased Tahn, Return to Alastair, and The Scarlet Trefoil by L.A. Kelly. I have yet to read this series, but it intrigues me and was on sale.

Non-Fiction:

Me, Myself & I AM created by Matthew Peters, Elisa Stanford and Multnomah Press
. I received this in the mail unannounced with directions for a blog tour. After flipping through it I'm very excited to participate, Nov 3rd-7th. Click here, for more information.

The Rosary: A Journey to the Beloved by Gary Jansen, this I got for review and tour thanks to Valerie Russo over at FaithWords through Hatchette Book Group in a box by UPS with the next book. Click here for more information.

Beyond Belief by Josh Hamilton with Tim Keown
, also for reading and reviewing since I'm having this and the former as part of a big giveaway (click here). Click here for more information too.
Losing God: Clinging to Faith through Doubt and Depression by Matt Rogers, this was sent to me by Matt and Intervarsity Press. I was thoroughly impressed with his book When Answers Aren't Enough: Experiencing God as Good when Life isn't. , and being a "depressed" person myself I am very eager to see what Matt has to say in this book. Click here for more information about Losing God and click here for more information about When Answers Aren't Enough.

Mad Mary: Workbook by Liz Curts Higgs, I'd like to point out that I paid $0.99 for this. Yeah, that's right.

2009 Daily Planner for Women from Christian Art Publishers. Click here to see how pretty it is and get more information from CBD.com

Boy, did you get a lot of books last week. Happy reading! As much as I love getting books, I'm hoping for a little bit of a slow down this week, so I can do some catching up.

Lots and lots of books--good for you! I used to buy multiple copies of the same book. What a pain! I'm probably one of the few people who bought a PDA simply to keep book lists on when I go booking. Once I started doing that, I stopped buying multiples.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Books may be my first passion, but photography is my second. I can't go without books or a camera without getting the shakes. I have two other blogs where I use many of the photos I've taken.

As for using a PDA as a portable booking device, I keep my lists on simple Word documents. I find it easier to make corrections and additions. Since I read a lot of series, I also list the books I'm looking for in order. It may sound anal, but these things have stopped me from buying multiples and helped me buy books in the right order, so I don't care how it sounds! LOL

Oh! I do not think that sounds bad at all, but wonderful... Now where is my PDA... I had one in college to track grades, email, schedule etc... Then I bought my mac. Now that I'm no longer in school, the mac is no longer attached to my hip outside of the house... So.. hmm.. searching I must do.. A little hard since my life is in boxes right now (Should close on our house on Wednesday!)

Holy cats Margaret, what a lot of books! I don't read romance so I haven't heard of a lot of these but I'll be watching for your reviews on a couple of them.
I love doing Mailbox Mondays.

That's a nice selection of books. I love reading a series in order. I've been known to go out and buy the earlier books in a series after I have received one of the later ones. I feel you miss out on things when you start in the middle.
