Though i appreciate your passion for breastfeeding, there is, in fact, another reason why women don't breasfeed. Hypoplasia of the breasts. This is happens when the milk ducts fail to mature and do not produce any milk at all. This can be heartbreaking for moms such as myself. I find that this condition is overlooked and then therefore not seen as a reason for not partaking in this wonderful activity. I longed to breastfeed my daughter but was unable. I pumped and pumped for weeks and never got a drop. I took fenugreek, blessed thistle and had several trips and tearful phone calls with my lactation consultant. Sometimes, the spirit is willing but the body is weak. To this day I mourn the loss of this bond with my daughter, and she is almost two. I feel I will never get over it.

Amanda - I hear what you are saying and I feel for you that breastfeeding is something that did not work for you. The fact that your spirit was willing is what I find to be important. Sometimes God makes things work out in ways that just does not make sense to the rest of us, no matter how we want it to.
